Course Objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Understand and operate a camera.
  2. Manipulate camera settings to achieve desired effects.
  3. Utilize various camera modes effectively.
  4. Apply principles of composition to create visually engaging photos.
  5. Recognize and experiment with different types of photography.
  6. Edit photos using standard software tools to enhance and refine images.

Aperture

Aperture refers to the size of the lens opening, affecting the depth of field and the amount of light entering the camera.

Shutter Speed

Shutter speed determines the duration the camera sensor is exposed to light, influencing motion capture in photos.

ISO

ISO measures the camera sensor’s sensitivity to light, with higher values allowing for better low-light shots at the expense of potential noise.

Exposure Triangle

The exposure triangle is a concept that illustrates the relationship between aperture, shutter speed, and ISO in achieving correct exposure.

Metering

Metering is the camera’s method of evaluating light in a scene to determine the optimal exposure.

Composition

Composition encompasses the arrangement and framing of elements within a photo to create a visually appealing and meaningful image.

Post Production

Photo editing involves using software to modify and enhance images, improving color, sharpness, and overall impact.

Advanced Techniques

Use filters, long exposures, and HDR to create compelling images.
